Description

ART1224 Principles of Design
A lecture/studio course designed for students to develop a fundamental understanding of the primary components of design. The course has three parts: aesthetic theory, abstract graphics, and design vignettes. The vignettes are designed to give the students an architectural inquiry on the broad range of topics discussed. Specific studio emphasis is given to the basic consideration of beauty, form, space, order, and light, as w ell as the implications of function, use of materials, and design intent. Numerous successful architectural works are examined and discussed. Six credit hours.
