Description

Design-Build Workshop serves primarily as a fabrication shop for the construction of full-scale architectonic elements (including wall sections, mockups, and designed furniture prototypes). Execution of these elements exposes the student to general hand and power tool literacy in a shop environment. Demonstrations during class will focus on techniques which enforce Architectural Technology Studio topics with a focus on mechanical assembly, material methodology, and detailing. Students will complete one full-scale mockup, or prototype, and critically evaluate the result. Supplementary opportunities will include application of finishing techniques (paints, stains, and coatings) to varied material types. Three credit hours (Note: Additional Tool Cost Required)
