Students will learn vehicle identification, estimating systems, and terminology used in the collision repair process. They will learn how to analyze frontal, side, and rear impacts, along with performing a mechanical systems analysis. This course will teach students basic cosmetic straightening of steel and body filler applications. Additionally, students will learn the principles of Metal Active Gas (MAG) setup and tuning, while emphasizing personal and vehicle safety during the welding process, along with preparing for the I-CAR Steel welding certification test. Students will learn how to perform Metal Inert Gas (MIG) brazing and the oxyacetylene/plasma cutting process. Students will also learn how to service and repair a vehicle???s mechanical and electrical systems, in addition to learning the importance of recognizing surface defects in existing finishes, mixing refinish materials, how to apply automotive primer surfacer and sealers. 10 credit hoursOUTCOMES1.
