David Markowitz
David Markowitz

My name is David Markowitz and my role at Ranken is to provide supportive counseling and coaching for students. Many Students new to the college experience, as well as life-long learners returning to school, often face unexpected challenges that may take time to adjust to.

The natural process of adapting and feeling comfortable to a new situation is different for everyone and requires mental and physical energy that affect both our mind and body.  It is not unusual to feel anxious, lonely, confused, stressed out or overwhelmed.

As a licensed counselor with more than 25 years of experience, I’ve had the opportunity to serve in a variety of settings helping adults with challenges adjusting, anxiety, depression, post-traumatic stress disorders, family, and relationship issues as well substance abuse problems.

If you are experiencing any of these situations, I encourage you to contact me. I’m available by phone or email anytime and all services are strictly confidential and free.

CBA Overview

The Credit-By-Assessment (CBA) program is intended to allow incoming students an opportunity to test out of a semester of their major. These incoming students are typically "traditional students" who are entering Ranken either directly or soon after completing high school and who were enrolled in technical education in their high schools.

If any students are interested and it is available (please see the options and/or Competency Lists below), they may attempt a written CBA for no more than one semester of their major at no cost. If students complete the attempted written CBA with a 75 percent or better, they may attempt the same semester's hands-on CBA, which will require a fee of $200. If they pass the hands-on CBA with a 75 percent or better, the students will have successfully tested out of that semester of their major.
